Even though it was a shortened holiday week, PioneerCare still had lots going on. This week, I was able to attend a healthcare conference at Knute Nelson in Alexandria. In total, Pioneer was represented by ten team members.
The topic discussed was the new Medicare reimbursement model PDPM (Patient Driven Payment Model), that will take effect October 1 this year. This new model is a big deal, and requires lots of studying to keep up with the new policies! The conference was very informative, and taught me more than I ever thought I would know. The conference opened my eyes to how Medicare reimbursement will change going forward, and how it will affect how facilities will operate going forward.
This week we were also treated to a staff picnic food cook off! Staff brought in their favorite picnic side dishes for judging and the top three were picked. We were also treated to some outstanding BBQ cooked right in the front parking lot that included brisket, ribs, and pulled pork, courtesy of the BBQ pit masters Tom, Nathan, and Brad.
Editor’s note: PioneerCare is pleased to have Joel King join us as administrative intern for the summer. During his time with us, Joel will provide observations and updates on his activities through regular blog installments. Check the news section of our web site as his story unfolds.
