At PioneerCare, it is our top priority to provide quality care for our community’s most vulnerable and frail members. To support us in our mission, the Minnesota National Guard will deploy a temporary response team to Pioneer Care Center to help provide critical care for our residents and much-needed relief for our weary caregivers.
Pioneer Care Center is among the first Minnesota nursing homes to respond to Governor Walz’s offer to send the National Guard to support nursing staff. As soon as the application process opened, we immediately requested assistance.
The ten Minnesota National Guard members that will join our team for the next two weeks will be welcomed by the seniors we serve and our dedicated caregivers. Our staff members are stretched thin, and the stress of COVID-19 has taken a toll.
We greatly appreciate the temporary support the National Guard will provide us as we come together in our missions of service to those in our community. While our staff are exhausted, their ongoing professionalism, commitment, and resilience has been admirable. Our staff deserve this temporary relief and much more.
The National Guard members who will help PioneerCare are part of the 400 Governor Walz has pledged in a statewide plan to provide relief to the professional caregivers in nursing homes. We appreciate the commitment from our state government partners and look forward to working together to find permanent solutions to help us recruit and retain the quality caregivers we need to serve the seniors in our community.
