After a competitive search process, PioneerCare recently appointed Levi Preston as Director of Nursing for the Care Center. Looking back not that many years, one might now see Levi’s path to leadership at PioneerCare as almost inevitable. His involvement began as a volunteer at about ten years old. He later became a Certified Nursing Assistant and at that time, was awarded scholarships through PioneerCare to pursue his career in nursing.
“Nursing is all that I have ever wanted to do,” Levi then wrote in his application essay. “As I grew older, and my grandmother’s health began to fail, I saw the impact the nurses in the nursing home and hospice home had on both my grandmother’s last days and my family. The nurses not only provided care to my grandmother’s physical needs; they also focused on her emotional, mental, and spiritual needs and it was then that I knew nursing was the profession for me.”
While continuously working at PioneerCare, Levi completed the LPN and RN programs at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton.
