PioneerCare officially broke ground on May 6, 2026, on a major new community initiative to expand access to high-quality, affordable child care in Fergus Falls. Through a broad partnership with Fergus Falls Area Habitat for Humanity, community leaders, businesses, foundations, faith partners, and local donors, the project will help bring up to 70 new child care slots to the region over the next three years.
Community members gathered to celebrate the start of construction on six neighborhood-style child care pods that will be built on PioneerCare-owned property off Channing Avenue. The project is designed to support independent, licensed child care providers while helping address the shortage of childcare in our community.
This project belongs to the community!
By the time the project officially broke ground on May 6, the campaign had already raised approximately $1.35 million toward its $1.5 million goal, demonstrating strong community support and momentum behind the initiative. We want to say thank you for coming together in a powerful way to turn this vision into reality!
The Community Child Care Expansion Project is separate from PioneerCare’s Securing the Future campaign and represents a distinct community-wide investment in workforce stability, family support, and the next generation, which you can read more about here.
